The course provides a foundation of concepts, theories, and principles which enable the student to understand and integrate the content that is the composite of Nursing, as a science and art. Foundation to Professional Nursing, the meaning of health and illness. Nursing as it relates to health care, social and cultural · set up. Concepts and trends and history of Nursing, interpersonal relationship in Nursing, ethics, and philosophy of Nursing, the concept of primary health care, components of primary health care, care of client, comfort and safety measures. Diagnostic measures, health education understanding of various categories of health institutions and their relevance in the health field.

The Nursing process and the utilization of scientific principles in the practice of nursing, basic Nursing skills, philosophy of Nursing, and physical assessment theoretical basis for nursing practice.
